I get it.

10 years ago I’d had enough.

I knew I needed to challenge my beliefs and create new habits to thrive in my messy life.

Here’s a little background. At 44 I was exhausted, frustrated and overwhelmed most of the time. I was trying to survive a bad marriage and at the same time be a good mother for three sons. On top of that, I was advocating for one of my sons with mental health issues and learning difficulties. Other than frustrated and exhausted, how I actually felt or what I really needed wasn’t even on my radar. I had completely lost touch with myself. I knew that kickass, fun loving and quirky part of me was in there somewhere. I’m pretty sure she was in hiding. I was emotionally and physically tired of doing overtime trying to fix my broken life. My efforts were in vain since I used strategies that kept me stuck in sick and tired. That all changed when I discovered the power of empathy for cultivating a rich and meaningful relationship with myself. I knew real change had to begin with me and I finally decided to start walking the talk. This new empathic life led me to become a vegan. I was convinced by the compelling research pointing to a plant based diet for better health, for improving animal welfare and for a healthier planet. I wish my doctor had written Empathy and Plant Eating on a prescription pad because these two strategies proved to be the best medicine for me.

Life went from broken to a truly exhilarating experience.

I am no longer sick or tired, in fact here I am in my middle years (55) feeling more vibrant and inspired than ever. Life is by no means perfect. No one’s life is perfect (despite what we see on Facebook). I’m not aiming for perfection, I am aiming for an authentic and inspiring journey. I see challenges as opportunities for self-awareness and personal growth which is quite a shift from the days when I felt stuck and overwhelmed in my challenging life. Physically I feel amazing. My chronic exhaustion and muffin top have been replaced with increased energy and my leanest body to date. What a transformation!
